You'd be forgiven for your inference of the content of this blog from the title, however I am actually not turning my writing to film reviews and recommendations.
I was just watching an episode of 'How I Met Your Mother'...if you've never seen it, it's pretty much 9 years worth of episodes showing a father telling his 2 kids how he met their mother; a show that took the place and style of Friends after its demise! It's generally a bit of 'background TV' when I'm doing other things, but today it actually made me think...
One of the main characters, Marshall, had to deal with the fact his father recently died. The rest of his family had amazing 'last' stories to tell of their final moments with 'Dad', whereas the last words spoken to Marshall were 'Rent Crocodile Dundee 3'.
It made me think that, potentially, every word we speak could be the last words we say to a person...and if not the last words, they may make a lasting impression.
Sometimes I know I have said things that I regret; said things in the heat of the moment that I know have hurt or been taken the wrong way...we all make mistakes, but maybe we should think more carefully before we speak. In fact, more importantly, we should consider the impact our words might have on those on the receiving end and taste our own words before we spit them out.
Thanks for reading! :) xx
